Dog Breed: Dutch Shepherd / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed. Cooper is a gorgeous 3yo Dutchie. He has been making great progress since becoming a #MADdog. Cooper is really just a great big goofball who loves the water. He is approximately 80# and he doesn't run when playing ball, he galloops. Yes, that's a thing. This fellow needs a confident owner who can help him develop his confidence. Don't be fooled by his size...he still has a lot to learn. He is not aggressive, but is a bit fearful of things like flashlights and golf carts so he needs someone who will be patient and understanding with him and teach him that he doesn't need to be scared of all the things. Cooper has some basic commands and when he’s not otherwise distracted, he will respond eagerly to sit, down, wait. When he's being fed, he sits quietly on command and doesn’t move on his food until given the OK. He pulls on his leash, but with proper conditioning, he can learn not to do that. He also knows “Up” to get on the cot or the scale at the vet. “Place” is the command to tell him to go into his crate and he is really good at that. Like most dogs he can be a little bit naughty...he has a tendancy to demolish stuffed toys if he gets his chompers on one of them. He also doesn't really like giving up his toys, but will concede. He's good with cats and we're not yet sure about other dogs. We think he will be ok, but introductions have been slow because the focus has been on relationship and good communication. We do provide transport assistance up to 350 miles. The applicant must drive the remainder of the distance of the transport.
