Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Hi! I'm Lucky! I'm an approximately 1 year old, male, Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog mix. I was surrendered by my owner on 04/07/2025 because I did not get along with the kiddo in the home. I arrived to the shelter incredibly scared and shut down. I am working with shelter staff to come out of my shell and adapt to my new environment. I am looking for a family who has the patience to help me transition to a new home and help me build the confidence I need to be the best family pet. I am slowly opening up to staff and have begun playing with toys of all kinds and seeking out affection when I am around people. According to my previous owner, I am house and crate trained and good with dogs. A meet and greet is encouraged to make sure we get along. My adoption fee is $125. I am neutered, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccinations, basic boosters, and heartworm negative. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
