Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois (medium coat). Gorgeous young Kira is athletic and strong. When she arrived at the shelter, she was quite shy and it took a while to adjust to the loud kennel noises. But now we're seeing her true fun personality coming out. She loves to play with toys and can actually dribble balls between her feet (really!). She is loyal and sweet and loves walks and being active. We're looking forward to someone seeing just how special she is. Her perfect match will have to keep up with her need for high physical activity and drive. If you're up for the challenge, come meet her during our walk-in hours Friday and Saturday or by appointment Monday through Thursday, 11-3. Adoption fees are $50 and include microchip, spay, and all up-to-date vaccinations. Adoptions are always free for veterans. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months). All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
