Description
Dog Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier. If you are looking for an energetic, playful and fun girl than look no further! My name is Luna and I was found by Ewing Police running around having a grand old time. They scooped me up and said I was a very nice girl (because duh, I am!). They brought me to the shelter and I was a bit confused because I was having so much fun running around, but they told me my owners needed time to claim me. No one showed up, so now I'm available to find a new home. I am hoping I can find a family who will take me on lots of adventures and let me exercise. I love to play fetch and will bring it back to you, but preferably tennis balls please. I know how to sit and I love to take treats (when I'm not distracted by what's going on around me). I am gentle and kind and told I would be an excellent addition to an active home. I hope you'll apply to adopt me and come meet me! Adoption by appointment only with an approved adoption application. Please go to .easelnj/adopt to submit an adoption application. Someone will be in touch within 48 hours.

Overview:
The American Staffordshire Terrier, often affectionately called an "AmStaff," is a breed with a fascinating history, originating in 19th-century England and later refined in the United States. Physically, they are medium-sized, muscular, and agile dogs, known for their powerful build and distinctive wide smile. Their short, stiff coat comes in a variety of colors and patterns. In terms of temperament, AmStaffs are generally intelligent, confident, and highly loyal to their families. They possess a strong desire to please and can be quite affectionate. While they can make excellent family companions and often get along well with children, early socialization and consistent training are crucial due to their strength and inherent protective instincts. They are adaptable and can thrive in various living situations, including apartments, as long as they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. Health-wise, they are generally robust, but some individuals may be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as certain heart conditions.
