Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. If you're looking for a gentle soul with a playful spirit, Lainey might just be your perfect match. This 110-12 month old 35 lb shepherd mix is an absolute joy to have around — sweet, sensitive, and full of puppy charm. Lainey can be a little shy at first, but once she knows she can trust you, she blossoms into the most loving and loyal little baby. Her big, soulful eyes say it all — this girl is pure heart. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is very gentle with cats. She’s crate trained, lets you know when she needs to go out, and loves to play and zoom around the yard before curling up for a nap like a sleepy toddler. Still young and full of potential, Lainey is learning and growing every day. Her gentle nature and eagerness to please make her an absolute dream to have in the home. She’s the kind of pup who wants nothing more than to be near her people, offering cuddles, tail wags, and unconditional love. This little angel is truly something special — she just needs a kind, patient person to show her that the world is a safe and happy place. If you think Lainey might be your forever friend, apply today and come meet her. Your heart will thank you. If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: .starfishanimalrescue/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
