Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Vin might be one of the smallest malinois that I’ve ever met. The little guy is only 35 pounds, and he’s as darling as they come. He’s extremely sweet, and he’s sensitive. Though he’s a gentle little guy, those details shouldn’t take away from his breed and his needs (an owner/foster who is active and prepared to provide mental AND physical stimulation is needed). When Vin arrived, he was so scared. He’s kept to himself and is still pretty shut down. He becomes startled when dogs lunge and bark at him. He’s friendly around calm dogs. When we took him outside, he was an angel. At first he just wanted to curl up on my lap to feel safe. It seems that he really misses companionship once I began to walk around with him, he took time to explore and check things out. He kept coming back to me to be pet and rubbed.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
