Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Please note that we can not guarantee the age, expected weight or breed of any animal. What we provide is our best estimates based on our experience and the information provided by the our medical partners. If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY. Foster or Furever Home Needed for Tru! Meet Tru — the happiest little wigglebug you'll ever meet! She lights up the room with her joyful energy, especially when it’s time for fetch or a nice long walk (two of her favorite things ‍♀️). Tru thrives in her kennel, always wagging her tail and ready to say hello. She’d do best in a calm home, ideally with another mellow dog who’s not too high-energy. She’s got the heart of a sweetheart and just needs someone patient and loving to show her the ropes. Could you be the one to give Tru the love she deserves — even just as a foster?

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
