Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Some pets are in the Shelter and others in Foster homes. Please read the bio & email the address listed in the bio. Additionally for CATS you may email JSheltoneulesstx.gov and for DOGS, email trinitygapclubgmail Meet Moxie! This sweet 5-year-old hound/terrier mix is the total package—social, gentle, and full of love. Moxie weighs about 50 pounds and is both potty and kennel trained. She’s great with people and has a friendly, easygoing personality that makes her a joy to be around. Moxie was rescued from a high-kill shelter, and while she was lucky to find a second chance, her current family can no longer care for her due to illness. Right now, she’s living in an outdoor shed, and with the Texas heat quickly rising, she urgently needs a foster or forever home. Moxie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to move in with someone who can give her the love and comfort she deserves. Can you help Moxie find her happy ending? Email steffeniegaprescuegmail for more info or to offer her a spot in your heart and home.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
