Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet North A Big-Hearted Girl Ready to Find Her True North Hi, I'm North an 18-month-old Pit mix with soft eyes, a gentle soul, and 67 pounds of pure love. Life took an unexpected turn when my previous family could no longer care for me, but I haven't lost hope. I know the right home is out there, one where I'll be cherished and finally get the love and stability every dog deserves. I'm leash trained, crate trained, and have done well with my littermate, but if you have another pup at home, a meet and greet is recommended just to make sure we're a good fit. Because of my size and strength, I'd thrive best in a home with older children who are familiar with big dogs and can help me feel secure. Despite everything, I'm still sweet, eager to please, and ready to love with my whole heart. I'm spayed, microchipped, up to date on all my vaccines, and heartworm negative. I have been searching for my furr ever home for 217 days as of 11/20/2025 and am now considered a Diamond Dog! My adoption fee is $75. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
