This 65 pound, 1 year old Terrier/Hound mix is the cutest boy and has a great personality. He was rescued by one of our vets running on a busy highway about to be hit by a car . Trinity Gap Rescue took the case, and now Buckwheat is ready for adoption ☺️ He lives with his foster family who tells us that he Is potty and crate trained , great with kids, he loves walks , car rides and toys. Buckwheat is dog friendly and likes to play with other dogs. Buckwheat loves to please people and will do fine with other dogs in the house. He Is a smart guy who learns fast!! . In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
