ABITA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Abita Best Guess for Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier/Bulldog mix Best Guess for Age: 3 years old as of April 2025 SEX: female Approximate Weight: 48lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids yet. Abita is not recommended for a home with cats. Currently Living at: DC area boarding Check out this video of Abita: youtu.be/z8p-UwbGBrM. Abita is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweet, sweet girl is eagerly looking forward to having her own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. And snuggles at the end of a fun day together. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on her wish list as well. But you know what she wants most of all? To know she's safe and loved. What Shelter Staff Say About Abita: Abita spent some time on the Dogs Playing For Life Canine Center campus in Florida. There, she received basic training and enrichment, and socialized with other dogs. Abita worked on the Sit and Place commands there. She also worked on loose leash walking and sitting at open doors, waiting to be released to go out. She also got to play with enrichment toys such as food-filled Kongs and food puzzles. She enjoyed playing in group with her dog buddies and was good with dogs who needed a little help socializing with others. What My Foster Says About Me: Abita is friendly with people and other dogs, and likes to play. She is high energy in play and on walks, but once activities are done, she'll settle in the house peacefully. She sleeps overnight in the crate, and after a little time to settle, has done fine in the crate when I leave my apartment. She hasn't had an accident in my place, and is smart, food-motivated and trainable. She has benefited from a stable home environment and her sweet personality is really starting to shine! Dog day out report: She made a brief visit to a splash park! She was great with the families at the park and was completely ambivalent to the water. Abita is a complete love-bug and all she wants is to be pet 24/7....She’s a complete sweetheart and would make a great family dog. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
