Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Hi, I’m Sitka! I’m a sweet husky mix, about 51 lbs and around 2–3 years old. I might be a little shy when we first meet, but once you earn my trust, I’ll be your loyal companion for life. Here are a few things to know about me: I have medium energy — I love a nice walk or some playtime, but I’m just as happy relaxing by your side. I’m crate trained and potty trained, so I’m ready to fit right into your home. The staff and volunteers absolutely adore me — they say I’m gentle, loving, and easy to fall for. I do best in a calm, patient home where I can continue to build my confidence. I’m really hoping to find that special someone who sees my potential and gives me the love I’ve been waiting for. I’m ready to find my forever home — could it be with you? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
