Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). wagoninn.rescuegroups Ruby is a sweet houndy girl whose owner has tragically passed and now needs a new home. Ruby is in a loving foster home in NJ. Ruby is calm and well behaved after her initial greeting inside. She loves people and does well with other dogs, but is not bird friendly. Ruby loves to be outside and LOVES to chase a ball. She is good on leash and behaves well in the car. Ruby loves to cuddle and snuggle under a blanket. She is good with children but may be best with older children because she can get excited. It is unknown how she is with cats. Ruby enjoys chewing on her bones and loves to play and interact with her people. She is spayed and up to date on vaccines and would make a great addition to most families. Ruby is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $300. How to Adopt Me! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
