Dog Breed: Schnauzer / Scottish Terrier Scottie / Mixed (medium coat). Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? .muttloverescue/foster.html ***************** Jock was originally adopted from a rescue located in Alabama. When he proved to be too active for the adopter's two senior dogs, they asked if Mutt Love would find him a loving home and of course we said yes. We communicated with the original rescue to confirm they were okay with us taking Jock under our rescue. Jock is about two years old and weighs about 23 pounds. He is very friendly and sweet, likes other dogs, cats are unknown. Jock does have a hearing impairment where he can hear certains tones, but it doesn't seem to slow him down. **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at .muttloverescue/application.html OR write to adoptmuttloverescue. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
