Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Herbert finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) . Meet Herbert | 1 Year Old | 38 lbs | Sweet, Snuggly, and Ready to Love Herbert is embracing his second chance at life with a full heart and a wagging tail! This 1-year-old, 38-pound brown beauty is settling beautifully into the safety of his foster home and showing just how much love he has to give. With soulful eyes and an affectionate spirit, Herbert adores his people. He’s a world-class snuggler who will gently rest his head on you, offer a paw for affection, and happily roll over for belly rubs. Whether he’s cuddling on the couch or following you around the house, this boy thrives on companionship and connection. Herbert is still learning the ropes when it comes to doggy boundaries, but he’s making great strides with the help of his patient foster pack. He gets along with dogs of all sizes and completely ignores the resident cats — a true gentleman! He loves going for walks (and walks wonderfully on leash), playing with toys, and chewing on bones to his heart’s content. This food- and toy-motivated pup already knows “sit” and “come,” is crate trained, and is working hard on his house-training. Peanut butter Kongs are his love language, and he’s eager to please — making him a great candidate for continued training. Herbert would do best in a home with older children and will thrive with adopters who: Continue his gentle socialization with other dogs Provide consistent structure and positive reinforcement Are looking for a loyal, loving best friend who gives as much love as he receives If you’re looking for a kind-hearted companion who’s equal parts cuddlebug and adventure buddy, Herbert might just be your perfect match. He’s ready to share his love — and his whole heart — with a family to call his own. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogsarrcolorado for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
