Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Beau is a handsome and complex soul with a heart full of love—he just needs the right person to help him feel safe. This sweet boy has two sides to his personality: at times, he’s affectionate, enjoys being petted, and loves nothing more than being close to his person. But other times, he gets overwhelmed and may nip, especially when startled or unsure. Sudden movements make him anxious, and he’s still learning how to trust again. Beau recently experienced the heartbreaking loss of his owner. He was found alone outside his former home, confused and grieving. Since then, he’s been working hard to adjust to a new world. He suffers from separation anxiety and doesn’t do well in a crate, preferring the company of someone he can rely on. He’s slowly beginning to show interest in toys—progress for a pup with a guarded heart—and he absolutely loves sticking his head out the window on car rides. Beau’s ideal home is one without kids and with someone patient, experienced, and home often. He needs a calm, stable environment where he can feel secure and loved. With the right person, Beau has the potential to blossom into a loyal and devoted companion. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
