Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Some pets are in the Shelter and others in Foster homes. Please read the bio & email the address listed in the bio. Additionally for CATS you may email JSheltoneulesstx.gov and for DOGS, email trinitygapclubgmail Meet Tilly Tilly is a 3-year-old, 25-pound terrier mix with a heart as big as her adorable ears. This sweet, smart girl has been through more than most dogs ever should. She was found severely emaciated, having selflessly given everything she had to feed her puppies—three of whom survived, thanks to her incredible strength and love. Now, it’s Tilly’s turn to be cared for and cherished. Despite her past, Tilly is full of love and joy. She adores children and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She's still working on potty and kennel training, but she's eager to learn and thrives with gentle guidance and consistency. With her intelligence and affectionate nature, she’ll make a fantastic family companion. Tilly is ready for a new chapter. She deserves a home where she can be safe, loved, and live the happy life she's fought so hard for. Will you be the one to give her the second chance she’s been waiting for? Email evegapfoster1yahoo

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
