Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Hi there! I’m Pepi, a 3-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix, born around December 2021, with a heart full of love and a spirit made for adventure. Whether we're hitting the trails or lounging on the couch with a tasty bone, I’m happiest just being by your side. I'm potty trained and kennel trained, and because I’m super treat motivated, I pick up on new things quickly. I’m smart and eager to please – the perfect combo for continued training! I’m currently working on my leash manners — I tend to get excited and pull because I just have to check out everything and say hello to every person we pass. I’m a social butterfly through and through, and I just don’t want to miss a thing! With consistency and positive reinforcement, I know I’ll get the hang of polite walking in no time. When it comes to cats, well… I think they’re awesome playmates, but I’ve been told I can be a bit much for them. I get excited and tend to chase, so a cat-free home is probably best for everyone. Now let’s talk dogs – I love to play with them and have a blast during doggy playdates. But when the fun’s over, I like my space. I’m happiest being the only dog in the home. Visiting doggy guests? Cool. Long-term roommates? Not so much. My absolute favorite? KIDS. They’re the best! I adore their energy, cuddles, and all the love they bring. I'm gentle and playful with them – they’re truly my favorite kind of people. I’m ready to find a family who’ll love me for my big personality, playful heart, and loyal soul. If you’re looking for a best friend who’s always up for fun and down to chill, I just might be your girl. Think we’re meant to be? Let’s meet! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $375.00

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
