GRIMM - GREAT DANE DOG FOR ADOPTION

Dog Breed: Great Dane. LOCATION: Bardstown, KY DOB: 3/26/2019 (we adopt nationwide) Introducing the one and only Grimm! His name might sound a little dark, but this silver-muzzled sweetheart is on a journey to his fairytale ending. Grimm is around six years old and was removed from a cruelty case by animal control. His body tells the story of neglect—covered in scars, stiff from arthritis, but somehow still full of hope. Despite everything he’s been through, he’s gentle, soulful, and just wants to be loved. He recently got neutered and is doing well on Galliprant and joint supplements to manage his arthritis. He takes his meds like a champ, no trickery needed. Grimm enjoys car rides and snoozing on a soft bed. He can’t jump very well, so a ramp would help with taller surfaces. He adores stuffed toys, takes baths like a pro, and is crate trained—though he may sass a little before settling down. Grimm is still working on his leash manners. He’s not a puller, but every detail outside is fascinating to him. Every walk is an adventure through scent and curiosity. He does have some quirks. Grimm has started to resource guard his foster mom and has shown protective behavior around guests, kids, and other dogs. We believe this stems from finally having something stable and not wanting to lose it. For this reason, he needs an adult-only, low-traffic home with experienced handlers who can give him guidance, consistency, and structure. With dogs, Grimm is fine as long as they’re calm and non-reactive. He coexists peacefully with his foster siblings and even participates in a daily fence patrol with his German Shepherd buddy. But if another dog grabs the couch spot next to his favorite human, he’s not shy about voicing his frustration. He would do best as an only dog or with companions who are laid back and not competing for attention. Grimm is completely cat-safe. He’s indifferent to the outdoor cats in his foster home, even when they dart by or rub against him. Grimm is an old soul who has endured far more than he should have. But he’s still soft, still sweet, and still waiting for someone to show him what unconditional love truly means.
