Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Dak—the shy sweetheart with a playful spirit! This adorable 10-month-old Terrier mix is looking for his perfect forever home! Dax will be medium-sized when fully grown, and he’s already proving to be a cuddle champion. He loves to snuggle, play, and hang out with his doggy friends. In fact, he needs a home with another playful pup to help him build confidence and bring out his fun side! He loves to play outside with his canine companions. Dak is a little nervous at first and takes time to warm up, but once he feels safe, his personality shines. While not 100% potty trained, he is making great progress with house-training. He prefers not to be crated, and he is well behaved when left alone. Kid-friendly and eager for love, Dak needs a patient family who will give him time to come out of his shell. With kindness, structure, and a fun-loving canine companion, he’ll blossom into the happy, confident pup he’s meant to be! Think Dak could be your new best friend? Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
