Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). JANIE is very affectionate and would love to be petted all day :-) She will look dreamingly into your eyes. One thing she will need your help with (and she is currently working very hard on it to please you ;-) is that she gets very excited and happy to meet you and others and will jump up in the air to kiss you on your face. She is learning that she can stay with all feet on the ground and the human will come down to her and pet her there. :-) Her adoption fee includes her spay, vaccines, microchip. She was born July 2023. Adoption process: online application, pics or video, phone conversation to answer all questions, we bring the pet to YOU and do the pet introductions with all family members including family pets. Desert Paws Inc Animal Rescue of New Mexico has been matching forever families with animals from the four pueblo Indian reservations we work with since 2008. One paw at a time :-)

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
