Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Fennec is a goofy young boy who loves people and cuddling on the couch if given the chance. He does fantastically in a crate at night or when we need to leave the house. He still acts like a puppy so he does become destructive if bored. Mental stimulations like peanut butter kong toys or snuffle mats have been a wonder for him. He is currently living with 2 cats and 1 dog, he has learned to give them space but does become possessive occasionally. He’s learned so quickly and does best with a routine, he does great on the leash and will do anything for a treat. We are working on jumping up and some simple commands. He has not been introduced to children yet. He is more timid around men but has never shown any aggression toward people and even when he challenges our other pets, he backs down quickly when challenged back. He needs someone to trust and show him that life doesn’t have to be so scary anymore If you feel your home might be the right place for this wonderful dog, the place to start is with the adoption application found at .dfwrescueme/adopt. Once submitted, the foster will contact you to tell you more, and to arrange a meeting! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter. Fennec is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
