Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Welcome our sweet Roxy girl! This beauty was left in one of our kennels . After the initial shock of not knowing where her family went, Roxy started showing us just how sweet and smart she is! She is currently gaining her confidence around other dogs and really enjoying playing with them. Roxy is estimated to be about 1.5 years old and is 44 pounds. Her adoption fee is $275 cash/check and she is available at mmahrescue Our hospital is open for adoption visitation Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 5:00pm and Saturday's from 8:00am to 11:00am. To speed up the adoption process please visit our webiste, .mmahrescue, to fill out an application and get pre-approved when you arrive to meet your new best friend! Prior to meeting an adoptable animal we do require an approved application to be on file, sorry for this inconvenience. Cat adoption fees are $50 for kittens under 16 weeks of age and $75 for kittens/cats over 16 weeks of age. Dog adoption fees are $150 for puppies under 16 weeks of age and $175 for dogs over 16 weeks of age.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
