Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). Adoption Fee: $427.50 includes all applicable MN sales tax. This flashy young boy just came to us from a central Kentucky shelter and we are beyond thrilled to have him! Not only is Gus completely adorable, he is also very sweet and just your typical goofy Boxer. He stopped off at the vet clinic to get all checked over and get a couple of routine things taken care of then he will be all ready to go to a foster, foster to adopt or adoptive home! 7/25 UPDATE: Gus is a very nice, high energy dog. He loves to play and wrestle and he likes toys and treats. He has been working on it very hard and is *almost* completely house trained. Gus is good with all dogs and cats and I’m sure would be good with kids. He’s bouncy though, so probably not toddlers as he might knock them over ☺️ 10/9 UPDATE: Are you looking for a handsome guy that comes when called, loves to cuddle, waits for you at the window for a kiss, I found your guy! Meet Gus, he loves everyone he meets, loves to cuddle and will give endless kisses (maybe a little sloppy). He will even try protecting you from a dead fox skin! Gus is currently being fostered in Wisconsin and will do best in a home with another dog. ❤️

Breed overview
Boxer
A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
