Description

Dog Breed: Poodle (Standard) / Golden Retriever (long coat). Adoption Fee: $599. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team returned 5 2 25 housetraining, barking, won't crate Date into Rescue: Trooper originally arrived in rescue on 12/3/2024. He was adopted in early 2025. In May 2025, Trooper returned to rescue when his owner said they could no longer care for him. We are so thankful he did - Trooper had an intestinal blockage and required emergency surgery to save his life. Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release / Owner surrender Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Trooper is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 01/08/25 Trooper had a dental polishing. On 05/05/25 Trooper had emergency surgery to remove an intestinal blockage. Trooper had eaten part of a cloth toy. It's imperative that Trooper's forever home monitors him closely and understands that, if bored, he will go exploring and will eat things. Weight: 44 lbs Height: 26 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? No, but sweet Trooper has never lived without the security and safety of a physically fenced in yard for running and play time. What kind of home would be best for me? Say hello to Trooper, one of the most charming, calm, and gentle dogs you'll ever meet. Trooper is a fantastic dog who hates being left alone. When left alone he will need to be crated otherwise he will snoop around and get into things which leads him to eating things he should not eat. Trooper is versatile and would thrive in a home with a single person, a couple, or a family. He’s not overly active and doesn’t jump, so he could be a great fit for families with children of any age. His primary requirement is you need to be home more than you are away. Trooper is a dog that needs to be actively engaged with his adopter most of the day. When he becomes bored, he finds things to chew on and can accidently ingest them. This is why he must be crated when left alone. Trooper doesn’t need a high-energy household. He just needs a heart open to his quiet charm, his curiosity, and his calm, loving presence. If you’re seeking a low-maintenance companion with soulful eyes, a gentle nature, and a love for head pats and sunny naps, Trooper may be your perfect match. What is my personality like? Trooper came to us as a breeder release and had a lot to learn when he first arrived. One thing he didn’t need to learn - how to love people. This sweet boy is a people person through and through. He’s gentle and affectionate, and his love for humans is boundless. When Trooper returned to rescue in May 2025, his sweet demeanor continues to shine. If you're looking for a dog who knows how to enjoy the little things, meet Trooper—a gentle soul with a curious nose, a sunny heart, and a love for the simple pleasures. Trooper is the kind of dog who quietly wins you over. He has an aptitude for snooping, always sniffing around with interest, as if he's piecing together the great mysteries of backyard life. Whether it’s checking out the corner of the yard or inspecting your grocery bags, he’s your resident inspector—always curious, never in a rush. Trooper lives for treats—he’ll do a happy little dance for a biscuit and would gladly trade a snoop session for a snack. But when the sniffing’s done Trooper is all about relaxation. He’s a certified couch connoisseur and a sunbathing pro. Give him a soft spot on the couch or a warm patch of grass, and he’ll be content for hours. He’s not demanding—he’s just happy to be. Trooper also thrives around other dogs. He’s friendly, easygoing, and enjoys the quiet companionship of a canine buddy. Whether it’s a shared stroll or a lazy nap together, Trooper fits right in. And if you’ve got a hand free for a good ol’ head pat you’ve made his day. This handsome boy walks beautifully on a lead and doesn’t ask for much—just someone to enjoy the slow, sweet rhythm of life with. If you leave him at home, Trooper will cry for you. Loudly. He simply wants to be where you are. For this reason, he would not do well in an apartment or townhouse. Any place that has shared walls with a neighbor is a no go. Besides, this big boy needs the space a home provides both inside and out. How do I act when I first meet new people? Trooper is not the type to rush up to strangers for affection, but he loves people and is happy to accept love and pets when offered. Other tips and tidbits: Trooper was born on 1/23/2017. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
