Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie. Adoption Fee: $850.00. Scroll down to see more pictures of this dog. Lainey is available for adoption. She is 4 years old and weighs 11 pounds. Her adoption fee is $850.00. Lainey is a sweet, 10.5 lb, 4 year-old yorkie girl who had lived outside on a farm, in a barn. She was brought to us April 28, 2025, and was so timid she didn’t want to get out of the crate. Since then, she has come so far. Not only has she gotten used to living and exploring the house, she is doing very well with her potty training, is walking on a leash and is getting along with our other dog (a Shorkie female about the same size), and is following my husband and me. She’s very affectionate. She is very smart. She already knows her new name, follows some commands, enjoys pets and tummy rubs, and wants love and attention, as she deserves. She sleeps with my husband and comes upstairs to wake me up every morning at 7 . We are so happy to be part of Lainey learning how to be treated like a Yorkie should be . Lainey is staying with Nancy in Mc Kees Rocks, PA.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
