Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Tiana and Lilo are thriving in their new foster home! House training is going really well—both girls are already learning to head toward the door when they need to go out. At night, they sleep peacefully in their crate, usually settling down after just a few minutes of whining. These smart, playful pups love spending time with their foster sister, Aleska, who was also adopted from Island Dog Rescue back in November. Tiana and Lilo are about 4 months old and weigh around 11 pounds. We expect them to grow to approximately 30 pounds when fully grown. Their adoption fee is $395 each, and we are not planning to adopt them out as a pair. Each pup will need to be spayed once she’s old enough Complete one of our online adoption applications today! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
