Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $450 + MN tax. This sweet blonde boy Bagel (5mo 23lb) is looking for his forever home, and he arrived just in time to experience his first Minnesota summer! Bagel is a sweet little couch potato who also likes potatoes. Unsalted fries are his favorite so far. Bagel enjoys playing Bumper Dogs with his bro Danish. Bagel is becoming more confident every day! Bagel took a little bit of time to come out of his shell when he arrived in MN, but he is making strides into being brave! He loves playing in his foster homes back yard, and loves to see how fast he can go, and how many laps he can do! Bagel would do lovely in a home with space to play, another critter to pal around with, and some humans who can show him the world is pretty darn cool! Bagel loves snacks, and the quickest way to his heart, is his stomach. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
