Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Maltese / Mixed (long coat). April is a 3-year-old, 6-pound, Yorkshire Terrier mixed (possibly) with a splash of Maltese. April was found by a good Samaritan in the middle of a busy interstate, unable to see because her hair was covering her eyes, and her limbs were matted to her body. April is a lap dog who loves attention. She is friendly and will seek attention from visitors and strangers. April may be best as an only dog or might be able to share a home with one other small dog, but it can’t be over 10 lbs. She doesn't hesitate to stand up for herself or push another dog's buttons, even ones bigger than her. April truly enjoys affection and constantly shows you how happy it makes her. April has dry eye (KCS), which means she needs tacrolimus eye drops 2 times a day for the rest of her life. These eye drops are $55/bottle and last about 6 weeks. Two bottles will be included with her upon adoption. April is not completely housetrained, so she needs someone willing to continue working on her potty training. If taken out frequently and on a schedule, April learns quickly. She will use potty pads indoors. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. The secure fence must be at least 4 feet with gaps no larger than 1 1/4 inch and attached to the home. An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing), it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business days. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee: $500
