Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Mixed (short coat). Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? .muttloverescue/foster.html ***************** Jade was abandoned at a kennel where she was boarding. She is a 2 year od Malinois mix, weighing about 50 pounds. Jade is a sweet, dog friendly girl. She is actually used to temperament test new dogs coming in for day care or boarding. Her ideal home would be with an active family as she is an active girl and also requires a home with a high fence as she can jump a fence. We are getting to know more about Jade and will update as we get to know her. **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at .muttloverescue/application.html OR write to adoptmuttloverescue. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
