Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). **MEET TRIXIE** Are you a fan of Chihuahuas? If so, you’re going to fall in love with Trixie! This adorable 7-pound ball of energy is not just a dog; she’s a bundle of sweetness and personality who will light up your life. Trixie’s journey began as a stray, and although she was adopted shortly after her spay surgery, she struggled to adjust to her new home, which was bustling with children, cats, and a large dog. Overwhelmed by pain and her new surroundings, Trixie was unfortunately returned to the shelter. But now, Rompin Paws is dedicated to helping her find the forever home she deserves, where her love and enthusiasm can flourish. Trixie needs an experienced dog owner—someone who understands the unique needs of small breeds, particularly Chihuahuas. Given her past, she thrives in an environment that is patient, nurturing, and empathetic. Once Trixie feels safe and secure, she will form an unbreakable bond with you, becoming a loyal companion who is ready to accompany you on all of life’s adventures. Currently, Trixie is in care at the rescue facility, where she interacts well with several other dogs. She does very well with puppies and is super choosy about who she friends as adult dogs. (If you seek two dogs, Trixie has befriended a couple of chi mix puppies in our care.) While she exhibits some resource guarding tendencies, these behaviors are manageable, and I can offer valuable guidance to her future adopter to ensure her success. With her eagerness to learn and strong food motivation, Trixie is a delightful and intelligent dog who is eager to train. This precious girl is on a journey to overcome her past disappointments, and with the right person by her side, she has the potential to truly thrive. Don’t miss the chance to make Trixie a cherished member of your family—she’s ready to bring endless love, joy, and companionship into your life **Adopting Trixie** If you believe you could be the right match for Trixie, visit our website to apply for adoption. The process is simple, and we will review your application within 24 business hours. Trixie’s adoption fee is $450.00. Trixie is current on vaccines and microchipped . rompinpawsrescue

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
