Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Meet Matzah, a silly girl with a whole lotta love and wiggles! Matzah is full of tail-wagging joy and is looking for a patient adopter to help her settle in at her own pace. Her love language? Treats, of course. If you enjoy bonding over snacks, you’re already halfway to her heart! This lower-energy girl enjoys a leisurely stroll and takes her time sniffing all the best spots. While she can pull a bit when something catches her nose, she tires out quickly and is more of a laidback walking buddy. Matzah also rides well in the car and hops right in without hesitation. Matzah came to the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center after showing a lot of fear in a local shelter. Since then, she has really blossomed into herself, but she can still become fearful of sudden noises or fast movements. She would benefit from a family dedicated to helping grow her confidence. Going slow, offering yummy treats and letting her move at her own pace will help her feel comfortable. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
