Meet Odin – A Devoted Soul Seeking a Second Chance Odin was rescued from Contra Costa Animal Shelter with just one day left on the euthanasia list. Tragically, his 7-month-old son, Thor, was not as lucky and had already been euthanized. Since then, Odin has been grieving and was visibly distressed in his kennel without his beloved son. It's a heartbreaking reminder of how much love and emotion dogs carry with them. Breed: Belgian Malinois/Shepherd mix Age: ~5 years Weight: ~73 lbs Health: Vaccinated, microchipped, and will be neutered before adoption Despite his grief, Odin remains a sweet and gentle soul. He’s good with people and other dogs when introduced properly. He deserves a patient, loving home where he can heal, feel safe, and rediscover joy. We are seeking either an adoptive or foster-to-adopt home for Odin—ideally with someone who understands the emotional needs of rescue dogs and can offer him the comfort he has lost. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds.
