Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Phoenix, a joyful, curious, and playful 7-month-old puppy who’s ready to light up your life! Rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Mississippi, Phoenix is now thriving in her foster home and looking for her forever family. Phoenix is crate trained, listens well, and is doing great with her housetraining—she rarely has accidents, though she’s still working on being 100% consistent. She’s also learning to walk on a leash, and while she can be a little startled by new sights and sounds, her confidence is growing every day. She’s a very friendly girl who loves meeting new people, and she’s great with kids and other dogs. Phoenix is still a puppy, which means she’s full of energy, curiosity, and a love for play. She adores toys and bones of all kinds, and going for walks is one of her favorite things! Phoenix would thrive in a home with canine or human siblings—she loves being active and involved. Whether it’s playing fetch in the yard, going on walks, or romping around with other dogs, Phoenix is happiest when she's part of the fun. She’s a flexible, loving pup who’s off to a fantastic start in life and just needs a home that will continue her training, provide structure, and give her all the love she deserves. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
