Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Patch, a 25-month-old mixed breed pup with a playful spirit. Weighing in at 37 lbs., Patch is still growing into his handsome frame, and with his sleek black and white coat and warm, expressive eyes, he turns heads wherever he goes. But despite his good looks, Patch has not found his forever family. This resilient and adventurous boy is finally getting his chance here in New England—and he is hoping that the next stop is his forever home. Patch may be a little shy when he first meets new people, but it does not take long for his curious personality to shine through. He is a super social guy. He enjoys belly rubs and rides in the car. He is a medium-energy dog who enjoys playtime but also knows how to relax. Patch gets along well with other dogs and children, making him a great fit for a family looking for a canine companion. His experience with cats, though, is unknown. Patch has not only made strides in his house and crate training, but he has mastered them as well. He already knows the sit command and is eager to learn more! Daily walks, neighborhood adventures, and trips to family outings are great ways to build his confidence and help him polish his leash walking skills that are still in progress. Patch is smart, willing, and full of potential to learn more—he just needs someone to believe in him. Although he is housetrained, it is important to remember that accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. After a day of exploring and learning, Patch loves to settle in for some quiet time. Whether it is curling up in his bed or snuggling close on the couch, he knows how to enjoy the simple comforts of home. Patch is ready to give his heart to a family that will cherish him, guide him, and love him as much as he will love them in return. Could you be the one to give Patch the forever home he has been waiting for. * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Patch is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
