Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Cash is a 7-year boy ready for his forever home. This boy will take his time to warm up but will quickly learn to love you if you bring treats. Once he feels comfortable with you, he will show his goofy personality. His favorite thing is to enter his foster parents’ room to say “HI” in the morning. Cash gets along with all dogs. He can be cat-tested if necessary. He loves sunny days and will spend lots of time sitting outside to enjoy the nice weather. Because he is an older dog, Cash would be an excellent companion for a senior citizen or for a family that wants a low-energy puppy. Rescue story: Cash was rescued after his companion was run over. We believe that he spent many months or years in a Houston forestry area with other dogs. Despite the hardship that he's gone through, Cash is incredibly loving boy. He just needs a home where he can feel safe and unconditionally loved for the remainder of his doggy life. This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
