Description
Dog Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (medium coat). How to Adopt Pearl is a sweet cavalier looking for an experienced patient family that speaks 'dog'. Pearl is a breeder release from a commercial facility. She hasn't had the benefit a dog her age might have who was born in a home. That being said, while she is scared and timid, once she feels safe she is longing to bond with a family. She will likely always be timid. She needs family who will help her slowly decompress and adjust in her own time. Pearl is a friendly gentle gal. She needs a fenced in yard for her potty place. She doesn't understand leash walking. Pearl will do best in a home with a confident respectful for her to follow and acclimate to her new home Cavaliers tend to be Velcro dogs. They want to be close to a human, Pearl is friendly, wags her tail and then retreats, She wants to be loved, She needs to relax enough to know she can move forward without fear, She needs a patient adopter without expectations she will change but will give her the time to allow her to if she chooses, Once she settles in she will follow you room to room to be close . Like all dogs, she will need structure and a patient, loving home. We recommend training for all dogs, not only to give Pearl important learning skills, but because you and your dog will create a stronger bond just by going through the training together. Pearl is fully vetted. She has been spayed, received age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. Subsequent vaccines will be at the expense of her adopter. Her adoption fee is $1200..00. She is on the hunt for her own completely committed family. Little dogs can live to be 20+ years old, so Pearl wants to be sure her family is all in for better or for worse! IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 12 MONTHS): You must have a flexible work schedule or someone home all day. Puppies need to be let out to potty often. They need socialization, bonding, and training (housetraining and behavioral training). If you work long hours, have a busy social schedule, or are not financially secure, then a puppy is not for you. We adopt in the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits. Overview:
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is an enchanting toy breed with a rich history, originating from the spaniels depicted in paintings of the 16th to 18th centuries and popularized by King Charles II. They are characterized by their gentle, affectionate temperament, making them exceptional companions. Physically, Cavaliers are small yet sturdy, typically weighing between 13-18 pounds, with a silky, medium-length coat that comes in various color patterns including Blenheim (chestnut and white), tricolor, black and tan, and ruby. Their signature features include a slightly domed head, large expressive eyes, and long feathered ears. Cavaliers are known for being adaptable and eager to please, thriving in both family environments and apartment living due to their moderate exercise needs and loving nature. They generally get along well with children and other pets, fitting seamlessly into most households. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain breed-specific health concerns, such as heart conditions (mitral valve disease) and syringomyelia, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
