Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Roxy is about 2 yrs. old, weighs 35 lbs. and is fully vetted. She was originally thrown over someone’s fence and left to fend for herself. Fortunately she was rescued by a good samaritan who has been trying to find her an adoptive home ever since. In the meantime, Roxy is being boarded (in a private home not a facility) while waiting for her forever person or family. Roxy is a very energetic, playful, good natured girl who just wants to have fun! She gets along better with bigger dogs than smaller ones. Her energy can be a bit overwhelming for the little guys but big dogs love her! See video below to watch her playing! If you’re interested in knowing more about her, please call Cheryl at (786) 214-0553.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
