Description
Dog Breed: Bluetick Coonhound / Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 450. Hello, I'm Tad Arthur! Yes, the name’s as distinguished as I am—a unique gentleman with a story to tell. I’m a hound mix, and I’ve already come a long way... but my journey is just getting started! I was found alone—emaciated and mangey—on a nearby reservation. Life was tough, but everything changed when I was rescued. Suddenly, I was surrounded by love, endless scritches, so much food, and... PAJAMAS! That first week was a whirlwind. I was scared at first, learning how to give and receive love, but I’m figuring it out one gentle day at a time. My mange has been treated, and now that my skin is healing, my hair has pretty much grown back. I’m getting several small meals a day to help me gain weight—and treats? I never knew there were so many! Since joining my foster family, I’ve grown to enjoy daily walks and am doing great on leash (look at this video of how great I’m looking and walking on leash so nicely)! I’m a bit reactive on leash but with continued guidance and positive reinforcement, I’ll make great progress. In fact, look at this video and another one of my progress walking on leash. I’m still working on potty (no accidents for weeks and need to be taken out regularly) and crate training, but hey—progress, not perfection, right? I’m looking for an adult-only home and am currently working on learning that I’m safe and can share my favorite things without them being taken away or withheld—I’m making great progress! I’ve shown some resource guarding with items, so if there is another dog in the home, they must be very non-reactive, and my environment will need to be managed to prevent access to high-value items around other pets. I would also do well as the only dog in the home. Check out this video and this one of my healing journey. I’ve met my foster sibling pups and I get along well with them. Here’s a video of me wrestling with them. So much fun!! I’d really love a home with a fenced yard and patient humans who’ll help me continue to grow into the spoiled pup I was always meant to be. Just a heads-up: I have a classic, robust hound voice, so apartment life with shared walls probably isn’t for me. Think we’re a match? Submit an application to learn more—I can’t wait to meet you! Tad Arthur is from a local reservation. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
