Don’t let Ty’s age fool you—this 9-year-old sweetheart has the playful energy of a pup and a heart full of love to give! Ty is a happy, bouncy boy who lights up when he sees other dogs. He would thrive with a friendly canine companion or an active owner who enjoys walks, playtime, and a good game of fetch. Ty is incredibly food motivated, which makes training a breeze and bonding even easier. He's smart, eager to please, and always ready for a snack! Ty is rejoining rescue through no fault of his own. He’s just not comfortable with the hustle and bustle that comes with young children. All the excitement can be a bit much for him, so he’s looking for a calmer, kid-free home where he can feel safe and secure. If you're looking for a loyal, playful, and food-loving buddy, Ty might just be your perfect match. Come meet him and see why age is just a number when your spirit is young! Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history. //

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
