Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Patterdale Terrier (Fell Terrier) / Mixed (medium coat). Say hello to Chewy! Chewy is an approximately seven-year-old and 15-pound Terrier/Pug mix, looking for his forever home through Chi Town Rescue. Chewy has had a lot of changes recently. His original owner passed away and a nice lady who knew his mom took him in. Unfortunately, Chewy wasn't a match for the existing kitties in the new home (he likes to chase them). Chewy is seven-years-old but has a fun and playful energy; do Terriers ever really age?! Chewy loves to chase toys and shake them to show you how "tough" he is. Chewy is friendly with people and social with other dogs. He loves to be pet and give kisses, and is always happy to meet a new friend. We're sure you and Chewy will be fast friends, if you come meet him! Email chitownrescuegmail for more information/meet and greet appointment. Chewy's adoption fee includes vaccinations up to date and microchip. He is previously neutered.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
