Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie. Meet Charlie! Charlie is a 1-year-old Yorkie bursting with personality and love! This little guy is a sweet, well-mannered pup who enjoys bacon treats and being part of the family. He walks great on a leash and loves kids, cats, and small dogs. While he’s not crate trained, he doesn’t need a crate and is fine when left alone. Charlie knows to come when called and is an affectionate companion ready to be your loyal sidekick. Charlie may mark his territory, but with proper care and guidance (and once he is fixed), he’ll thrive in the right home. He can get nervous in the car and will jump without a seatbelt, so he’ll need a secure setup during travel. He's not much of a swimmer, but he enjoys going in the water when the weather's warm, especially at the lake. Grooming-wise, he’s used to the traditional Yorkie cut and usually gets trimmed down in the summer. Charlie will need a fenced-in yard to safely explore and get his energy out, as he’s still young and curious. If you're looking for a sweet, playful, and social pup to join your family, Charlie might just be the perfect fit! You may find me on our website under "ADOPT

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
