Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Atlas is a handsome guy whose favorite place is right beside his people. Indoors, on a walk, playing ball - anywhere with his people is a perfect place to be for Atlas. Curious and intelligent, Atlas loves to learn and has shown himself to be a very resilient, lovable dog who is a joy to be around. Atlas loves to please and is very loyal and protective. He kennels easily, walks well on a leash, and settles well in his crate. He is great with other dogs with slow introductions and tolerates cats (with supervision). He loves treats, especially popcorn and has learned that fruits and veggies are delicious too! He loves to play with a snuffle mat as well, delighting in all the treats he can find in it. Playful and spirited, Atlas loves to play fetch with balls, play with his toys and will happily entertain himself when his person is busy. He enjoys working on obedience and responds well to praise, petting and treats. Atlas' foster dad says Atlas is bouncy just like Tigger when he gets happy/excited and can be talkative like Tigger at those times as well! After a day of play, Atlas is a true snuggle bug and sleeps well through the night. Atlas is the perfect companion for an active person or family with a true love of the Malinois breed's intelligence and engagement! All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and one-year subscription. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
