This curious, energetic boy is full of life and on the lookout for his forever family. Simon is endlessly fascinated by the world around him—he loves to be outside, runs like the wind, and investigates everything with wide-eyed wonder (including, once, a pond he accidentally took a dip in!). Simon is playful and goofy, especially when it comes to chasing balls—sometimes he even brings them back! He’s doing well with house training and has been keeping things tidy by going potty outside. At night, he sleeps soundly in his kennel without a peep. While Simon isn't much of a lap dog—he prefers short cuddles before heading off to explore—he is very people-oriented. On walks, he’ll occasionally jump up and give a full-body hug with his front paws, which we’re working on! He’s still learning basic manners and commands but is eager to please and ready to learn with a little time and patience. Simon is food-motivated and currently a bit of a counter-surfer, but he's not aggressive about it. He shows no signs of resource guarding and willingly gives up toys and treats. This pup will thrive in an active home that can keep up with his adventurous spirit and help him polish his puppy manners. He’s sweet, smart, and just waiting to start his next big adventure—with you! *Update: Simon does very well in crowds. He was here at our house for an outside party of 16 people. He was a jumper, but after that he was very chill and quiet and loved everyone. He had many admirers. We took him to a brewery Saturday afternoon and it was quite busy and very noisy. He was fabulous! He was gentle with people, wasn’t scared, met new people with energy and gentleness, and then sat or laid quietly under or by the table we were sitting at. Not a bark or any growl ever at the brewery. A very chill guy. He’s settling a bit more, and just today he was able to not completely go out of his mind when I brought his food bowl up. Day by day, we’re working on his ability to trust he will get the food he wants. He’s quite smart and when confident in his people and home, I think he’ll be a great dog to train. He attracts lots of attention when he goes out, and gets lots of pets and head scratches If you have previously applied with us please email placementmidwestanimalrescue to reactivate your application with new interest. or When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.
