Description
Dog Breed: Great Dane. LOCATION: Granbury, TX DOB: 05/01/2021 Ember is a brindle Great Dane with a calm, thoughtful presence and a routine-loving soul. He’s affectionate without being clingy—happy to do his own thing, but when you walk through the door he’ll quietly plant himself in your path until he gets his welcome-home lovins. He’s an easy eater, not picky at all, and prefers the comfort of a dog bed in the living room over sharing the human bed. Ember doesn’t really do “sit”—he’s more of a stand-or-lounge kind of guy—and he tends to answer to his name only when something genuinely interests him. Every morning, though, he makes a point of coming into the bedroom, sidling up to the bed and tucking his head into your arm for hugs and scratches. Sunbathing is a favorite pastime. Energy-wise, Ember is a true couch potato. The less activity, the better suits him. A backyard to wander and lounge in is perfect, and while he’s happy to go on a walk, one is plenty for the day. He’s crate trained, fully house trained, and remarkably easy to live with. Ember came from a rough start as a street survivor in Houston, and while he’s grown into a confident, gentle companion, that history shows up most clearly around cars—he absolutely refuses to get in and will try to back out when doors or hatches close. For him, home is where he feels safest. Ember gets along well with people and children and thrives in a calm household. He does best with company and must have another large dog friend in the home—no exceptions. He’s not demanding or noisy, just quietly devoted once he trusts you, content to be nearby and share space. If you’re looking for a low-key, steady companion who values routine, sunshine, and unhurried affection, Ember may be exactly the right fit. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . Overview:
The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
