Dog Breed: Rat Terrier (short coat). Meet Kirby! Kirby is a 1-year-old, 16-pound rat terrier bursting with energy and personality. This playful pup is looking for a forever home that loves fun as much as he does! Kirby enjoys chasing toys, romping with other dogs, and engaging in lively, puppy-style play. He's still learning his manners and can get a bit mouthy when excited, but it's all in good fun. He appears fully house-trained—only one accident on his first day—and has never marked indoors. At night, he settles down in his crate after a few initial whimpers and also travels quietly in a crate in the car. He thrives around other dogs and would do best in a home with canine companions. However, on-leash encounters with unfamiliar dogs trigger barking and lunging, so he'll need training to improve his leash manners. An obedience class would also help with his typical adolescent boundary-pushing. Kirby hasn't been tested with cats or children, but his energy level may be too much for small kids right now. Kirby would love an active home—ideally with a fenced yard—where he can run, learn, and bond with his humans.
