Dog Breed: Rat Terrier (short coat). Meet Kirby! Kirby is a 1-year-old, 16-pound rat terrier bursting with energy and personality. This playful pup is looking for a forever home that loves fun as much as he does! Kirby enjoys chasing toys, romping with other dogs, and engaging in lively, puppy-style play. He's still learning his manners and can get a bit mouthy when excited, but it's all in good fun. He is mostly house-trained and has never marked indoors—a great start for his future family! He settles down nicely in his crate at night and is a quiet, calm traveler when crated in the car. He thrives around other dogs and would do best in a home with canine companions. However, on-leash encounters with unfamiliar dogs trigger barking and lunging, so he'll need training to improve his leash manners. An obedience class would also help with his typical adolescent boundary-pushing. While Kirby hasn't been tested with cats or children, his high energy might be a bit much for small kids. He also tends to bark at and want to chase cats, so a feline-free home would be best for him. Kirby is dreaming of an active home where he can run, explore, and build a strong bond with his people.
