Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (medium coat). Milo is a sweet 3 1/2-year-old Yorkie mix who weighs about 10 lbs. Milo's hair looks wiry, but it is actually soft. He will need occasional grooming and is cooperative for baths and nail trims, so Milo would be easy for someone who prefers to groom their own dog. Milo is an observant little guy, who loves his people. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and is easy-going with them all. He could be an only dog or have another small dog in the home that weighs under 16 lbs. Milo is smart and would thrive in a home where someone wants to do trick training, agility and/or nose work. He can get carsick, but initially with short frequent trips, we feel he can grow out of it. Milo is crate trained and doing well with housetraining, at the same time, he will need someone committed to taking him out on a regular schedule. Milo walks nicely on a leash and enjoys his daily walks in the neighborhood. We are requiring a securely fenced yard for Milo so he can have the opportunity to play safely supervised in his own yard, a fenced yard helps with housetraining and most importantly it adds a layer of safety. Milo is clever, quick and curious, so his adoptive home needs to be mindful of door darting. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptionsgmail. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD. The secure fence must be at least 4 feet with gaps no larger than 1 1/2 inch and attached to the home. An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing), it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business days. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee: $500

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
