Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Charlie is as cute as he is curious, with a personality that will keep you smiling from morning to night. Around 3-4 years old, this sweet and silly guy is always ready for something new—whether it’s sticking his head into the elevator just to see what’s inside, cautiously inspecting a suspicious sidewalk cone, or mastering new tricks with enthusiasm. He already knows “sit,” “paw,” and “nose,” and responds well to gentle redirection (especially when snacks are involved). He’s also a total lovebug! Charlie adores his people and has no problem asking for affection—he’ll nuzzle in for kisses, lean his full body against you for pets, and snooze nearby like a cozy weighted blanket. While he can be playful and goofy, he’s equally content to lounge around while you work or relax at home. Charlie's foster parents call him "the best workout buddy," and he loves a jog! He’s shown a polite interest in other dogs and is generally friendly with new people after a brief warm-up. With continued guidance and a little structure, Charlie’s already wonderful personality will only grow brighter. Ready to fall in love? Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
