Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Bugg is our newest baby to escape the euthanasia list, and scary nights in an overcrowded shelter. She was on the “destroy list”, and we knew we had to get to her asap! She was found in a field alone, dehydrated, malnourished, covered in fleas and ticks and barely surviving. The shelter estimates her to be around 3 months of age. We are grateful to have found a foster to commit to helping her tiny, frail body to heal. Bugg has an Amazon wishlist designed just for her, and she’s hopeful that all of our great supporters might consider sending her a get well gift. Amazon wishlist link .amazon/hz/wishlist/ls/1I84HVAECCMOK?ref_=wl_share Bugg will be available for adoption once she is cleared by our veterinarian. Stay tuned for updates on this lucky pup! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
