Dog Breed: Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. Meet marvelous Missy! This beauty is a 2-and-a-half-year-old terrier mix. She is fully grown at a petite 38 pounds. If you are looking for a big personality in a small package, Missy may be your girl! Missy has a medium energy level. She enjoys playing outside with human and canine friends alike but is also happy to spend some time cuddling on the couch with her people. She is a wonderful mix of playmate and snuggle buddy. Missy gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and children. She has lived in a home with other dogs and would love to have a canine or human sibling (although it is not a requirement). She truly loves people and is eager to soak up all the love she can. Missy has spent time interacting and residing with cats but she finds it is much too challenging for her to have a peaceful coexistence with them so she will need a home without a cat. Missy is working on leash training and is doing well. She has learned her house and crate training and will gladly demonstrate the skills for her forever family. Although Missy is housetrained, it is important to remember that accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
